It was a year or two ago when we decided to go to Slovenia ( no NOT Slovakia! It is a different country, the country where we come from). The plan was to visit something not too typical for summer seaside holidays and the price needs to be reasonable. Slovenia has seaside, it is not typical and the train from my boyfriend´s town is going there (with a few changes). Ideal!
We decided to take the train from Nove Zamky to Bratislava, from Bratislava to Vienna, from Vienna to Salzburg and from Salzburg to Ljublana. It took us hours in the trains but it was really exciting until we managed to get to Salzburg. The train to Ljublana was absolutely full and no place to sit. It is 3 o´clock in the morning you really don´t want to end up sleeping on the floor in the aisle. Luckily we found out there was a reservation included in our tickets so we had to take the seats from other people. I really don´t like doing this but it was 3 o´clock in the morning and I was too tired to sleep or sit in the aisle of the train with so many people around me. Six people in the train were too many anyway. For some reason I don´t like being in a closed space with too many unknown people, probably that´s because I am an introvert and not very keen on sharing such a small place with strangers, mainly when they´re sleeping, their heads are falling and their feet are all over the roomett. It seems spoiled but it is not easy for me though. We were lucky to sit and sleep a bit, however getting to the toilet was a huge problem as people were sleeping on the floor and you had to wake them up to get to the smelly old broken toilet.
Finally we got to Slovenia. Slovenia is BEAUTIFUL. I have never heard a lot about it but it is awesome. When you cross the borders you can see Slovenian Alps everywhere, beautiful nature and rivers.
The capital city was amazing as well. On the top of it there is a castle and we loved the local markets with food, jewelry and the local icecream. As always we just walked and walked and walked and if we got lost we asked the locals and it always works. We lived in a high school dormitory so the price as very cheap and there were not many people in there as it was summer and they used it as a hostel.
The next day we wanted to see the sea but it was quite far so we decided to see the lake. The best decision ever! The Bled lake is aaaabsolutely stunning, beautiful and it was warm to swim in it. Awesome!
We really loved it and we ´re hoping to come again, not expensive and beautiful holidays!
